About ESD #2
Palo Pinto County Emergency Services District No. 2 is a “grass roots” political subdivision of the State of Texas operating under Chapter 775, Texas Health and Safety Code and was created to provide emergency medical services in the Southeast corner of Palo Pinto County. The ESD is funded by a portion of sales taxes collected in the district and, beginning in 2021, an ad valorem tax on properties within the district. The ESD contracts with the Santo Volunteer Fire and EMS to provide 911 ambulance services throughout its service area. In addition, the ESD supports the Lone Camp First Responder Organization to provide initial emergency medical care within the Lone Camp fire district until the arrival of ambulance capability. The ESD also supports community first aid and CPR training to better prepare residents in the event of medical emergencies.
